Steve Feeney says he was a century-making snooker player and his county’s No. 1 at English eight-ball pool until advice from a Joe Davis coaching book ruined his game within months. He recalls a 220-mile trip to see renowned snooker coach Frank Callan, only to realize he’d been tested as a right-handed player despite being left-handed.
Those experiences helped inspire SightRight, the sighting and alignment coaching system he introduced to professional snooker in 1997. His clients have included Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Williams, Stuart Bingham, and Jayson Shaw. SightRight credits its methods with helping players win 60-plus professional titles, including four world snooker titles.
We discuss his critique of eye-dominance testing, including the triangle test; why he believes lining up through your foot puts you in the passenger seat of your own stroke; and his 5-to-15 clearance drill for training concentration under pressure. He also assesses Dave’s 45-degree stance live and explains how he would rebuild the U.S. Mosconi Cup team from scratch.
